Perception For Employee

An incident came to me about one of the my friend, that when he ask his boss that why he was not get promoted than his boss told me that you are very hardworking, sincere and doing every task well but the perception of you is not good that why you not get promoted.

Here the question arises on my mind that, what is perception ? and who build the perception?

"Perception is the process by which people translate sensory impressions into a coherent and unified view of the world around them. Though necessarily based on incomplete and unverified (or unreliable) information, perception is equated with reality for most practical purposes and guides human behavior in general."

According to me that the perception of every person is differ from each other. Perception will not taken in a consideration while you a evaluating any person performance. For example: "Some person had perception about Sachin Tendulkar that if he made century India will loose the match and some had if he out early India will loose"

If we analyse his career history sometime happen that he had got his century but not able to win the match but many time he had win because of his century same as sometime when he got out early India's loose match but other ways his early out not affect the performance of his Team. We can't judge the any person performance by taking other person view.

If we take my friend case study according to his boss he is very good asset to company but some person perception is not good for him regarding his behavior, which affect his appraisal. Again one question arises that if any employee performing his task according to his KPA (Key Performance Area) and getting a best result for his organisation. But perception of his boss towards him is not positive that's why he loose his appraisal. After this my friend began feeling as if he couldn’t do anything right. He was experiencing feelings of anxiety, stress, self-blame and frustrated.

Still on search How we can change the Perception of Other?

"You can't always influence what others may say or do to you but you can influence how you react and respond to it."
